*The state of Michigan will grant learner’s permits to individuals who are 14 years, nine months old upon successful completion of an approved driver education course. Individuals aged 14 years, eight months may enroll in driver education courses.
*The learner’s permit must be held for at least 180 days. Supervised driving must include 10 hours of night driving as part of the 50 hour required total. Thirty of the 50 hours must be finished prior to enrolling in Segment 2 drivers education.

*A road test is required
*A Level 1 driver’s license holder must drive with a qualified and supervising driver at all times. The supervising driver must be at least 21-years-old, have a valid driver’s license, and sit in the front passenger seat. A Level 2 license holder would be prohibited from driving between midnight and 5 a.m. unless a qualified supervising driver was present.
*There are no restrictions regarding the number of passengers for Level 2 driver’s license holders.
*Drivers under age 18 must complete additional driver education requirements.
