*You can apply for a learner’s permit at 16 years without driver’s education and 15 years with driver education.
*You can apply for driver’s education at the age of 15 years.
*You must hold your learner’s permit for at least 180 days minimum with supervised driving before applying for your license.
*You can apply for your probationary license at 16 years and 90 days with driver’s education; or at 16 years for 270 days without driver’s education.
*You must adhere to passenger restrictions where no passengers can ride with you for the first 180 days except for a licensed driver education instructor who is working under the direction of a licensed driver training school, a certified driver rehabilitation specialist recognized by the BMV who is employed through a driver rehabilitation program, a licensed driver at least 25 years of age and related to the teen driver by blood, marriage or legal status, or a spouse of the teen driver who is a licensed driver and at least 21 years of age..
*You must adhere to nighttime driving restrictions 10 p.m. –5:00 a.m. every day for the first 180 days of holding a license; Sunday-Thursday 11:00 pm-5:00 am; Friday-Saturday 1:00 am-5:00 am until age 18, with exceptions for school, work and church-related functions.
*You must adhere to certified driving hours with 50 hours of supervised driving practice, 10 of which must be at night, with a certified driving instructor or licensed driver that is at least 25 years old or the individual’s spouse that is at least 21 years of age. The Log of Supervised Driving Practice (documenting the 50 hours of practice driving completed) must be submitted at the time of application for driver’s license.
