Georgia Driver License Requirements at-a-glance:

*Driver education is mandatory for teens under 17-years-old.
*You must be at least 15 years of age to receive your learner’s permit.
*You must be at least 16-years-old to receive an intermediate driver’s license.
*You must carry your learner’s permit for at least one year and one day.
*You can only keep your learner’s permit for 24 months.
*You must log 40 hours of supervised driving, including 6 hours at night.
*For the first 6 months, intermediate licensed drivers may only carry family members as passengers. After 6 months they can carry 1 passenger.
*For the first 6 months, intermediate licensed drivers may not drive between midnight and 6:00am without supervision.

Step 1: Register with Driver Ed To Go for GA online drivers ed.
Step 2: At your own pace, complete the entire course and pass your final exam to receive your Certificate of Completion.
Step 3: Find a driver’s license office near you and schedule to take your official DDS written test. If you passed our online course, you should be more than ready.
Step 4: If you passed the DDS test, then you’ve got your learner’s permit. Now you can start driving with a trained instructor or someone licensed and over the age of 21 as long as they are sitting in the passenger seat.
Step 5: Practice driving often and log all of your required hours.
Step 6: After a year, you’re ready for the DDS driving exam. Success here gives you your license!
