Any individual wishing to take Arkansas driver education must be fourteen years of age.  Once the legal age requirement is met, the individual is eligible to take the Arkansas drivers permit examination and subsequently begin practicing in order to acquire his or her learners permit.

Anyone who wishes to take the Arkansas online drivers ed course is allowed to do so.  An individual may wish to take the course in way of personal knowledge; or in order to take a discount with his or her automobile insurer.  The state of Arkansas, however, has not officially approved the Arkansas online drivers ed course for purposes of attaining an Arkansas drivers permit or in way of other automobile licensing requirements. 

It is necessary for any person wishing to participate in an Arkansas driver education program to provide the Department of Motor Vehicles with proof of legal residency within the state of Arkansas.  Further:  the individual must provide the Department of Motor Vehicles with an SS number and proof that his or her parents have an automobile policy in force.

Persons not passing the Arkansas driver education test the first time need not worry.  The Department of Motor Vehicles makes it possible for any individual to retake the test; and as many times as is required in order to successfully pass.  It is necessary, though, that the person wishing to retake the test wait one day prior to his or her return to the Department of Motor Vehicles location.

The exam  has 25 questions.

The Arkansas online drivers ed course is basically an educational aide provided to the individual in order that he or she may learn more fully the basics as it applies to driving in a manner which is safe.  It provides preparation too for the Department of Motor Vehicles written examination and road tests.  The course is available in order that an interested person is eligible for a discount with his or her automobile insurance provider.  It must be stated, however, that the Arkansas Department of Motor Vehicles has not yet officially approved the Arkansas online drivers ed course in order that an individual may receive an Arkansas drivers permit or in way of a standard  license.  Persons wishing to determine if, in fact, the Arkansas online drivers ed course satisfies the Department of Motor Vehicles requirements are advised to query the DMV.  

An individual who registers for the Arkansas driver education course is able to select how rapidly he or she wishes to receive the Arkansas driver education certificate:  that is after course is successfully completed.  He or she may have it delivered by way of standard grounds as it applies to shipping with the United States Postal Service or can pay more and have the certificate delivered by way of second or third day service.  He or she can also select to pay to have his or her certificate delivered overnight by way of Federal Express.

Any person who is in possession of an instruction permit is allowed to begin driving without any wait time involved whatsoever.    However, the individual must have a person in the car with him or her while driving who is twenty one years of age---acting as a supervisor.  The supervising adult must be sitting on the passenger side of the car while the driver is practicing driving. The restriction with regard to the instruction permit as well as other restrictions are eventually lifted:  once the individual attains his or her Arkansas drivers permit; intermediate license and lastly the unrestricted license.

Persons who are between the ages of fourteen and sixteen which possess an instruction permit may begin practicing driving in order to become eligible to receive an Arkansas drivers permit.  The individual in order to attain a Learners permit must not accrue any traffic violations for a period of six months.  The individual, also, attempting to acquire an Arkansas drivers permit must also successfully pass the Arkansas drivers permit examination.  Next, the intermediate license will need to be obtained:   once the individual turns sixteen years of age and upon successfully passing the Department Motor Vehicle's road test.  He or she will also need to assure that no traffic violations are incurred during a period of up to six months.  Afterward, an individual cannot attain an unrestricted license until turning eighteen years of age.  

There are no requirements on the part of the Department of Motor Vehicles with respect to behind the wheel time in order to be eligible to take the licensing examination.

The Department of Motor Vehicles has no driving requirements on an hourly basis in order to attain an intermediate license.  However, an individual must be sixteen years of age; in possession of a Arkansas drivers permit and not received any traffic tickets during the prior six month period.  

Individuals with an instruction or Arkansas drivers permit are not allowed to have their friends in the automobile while driving unless a driver at least twenty-one years of age; and licensed rides along.  

The Department of Motor Vehicles does allow a person to drive with his or her friends in the automobile without an adult supervisor once he or she reaches the age of sixteen years and has successfully attained an intermediate license.

Any individual wishing to keep his or her driving privileges are advised not to drive without an accompanying licensed driver who is at minimum twenty years of age.  The licensed drive who is at minimum twenty one years of age must sit next to the driver with an Arkansas drivers permit or instruction permit at all times.
