SafeRide Driving AcademyFAQ's

Can you tell me if SafeRide Driving Academy is a certified driver training school in Texas?
Although SafeRide Driving Academy is listed on our list of driving schools in your area, we are unable to say with certainty as to whether they are currently licensed to teach driver training courses in Texas.  We recommend either calling SafeRide Driving Academy directly or the Texas DMV to find out whether or not SafeRide Driving Academy offers hands-on driving courses that are state-approved.
I've been told that either of my parents can supervise my behind-the-wheel training, so I don't have to attend a Brownsville Texas driving school like SafeRide Driving Academy to fulfill my behind-the-wheel training requirement. Do you know if that's true or not?
You will need to contact the Texas DMV or a state-approved driving school like SafeRide Driving Academy to find out.  Some states do allow parent-taught driving, but many states do not.
I don't know how to drive using a stick-shift. Will SafeRide Driving Academy have an automatic-shift car available that I can use for my driver training?
Since you're enrolling in a Brownsville Texas behind-the-wheel training class, chances are good that you don't know how to drive either a manual-shift OR an automatic!  However, you should let SafeRide Driving Academy know what your preference is before enrolling in their behind-the-wheel class.  That way you'll know for sure they will accommodate you.
The area in which I live is mostly undeveloped--very few paved roads and mountains are all around. Will SafeRide Driving Academy be able to teach me how to drive safely on rugged terrain as well as in a city or town?
Considering that you live in a remote area, chances are excellent that a local driving school like SafeRide Driving Academy will want you to be able to drive safely on unpaved roads and other types of rugged terrain.  You may wish to contact SafeRide Driving Academy to find out exactly what their behind-the-wheel training course includes before enrolling in their training course.
Can 14-year-olds obtain learner's permits to drive in Texas?
Most states have set the minimum age for applying for a learner's permit at 15 or 15 1/2.  However, some states do allow 14-year-olds to get a learner's permit.  You may want to contact the Texas DMV or a Texas-approved driver training school like SafeRide Driving Academy to find out what the minimum age to drive is in Texas.
Will I be required to enroll in both a drivers education classroom or online course and a driver training course in Brownsville Texas?
It depends on which state you live in, but many states now mandate new teen-aged drivers to enroll in both a drivers education course as well as a driver training course.
Does SafeRide Driving Academy provide a behind-the-wheel training course like the one that is required by the State of Texas? I need to sign up for one in order to obtain my driver license.
SafeRide Driving Academy offers behind-the-wheel training courses which are approved by the Texas DMV.  You may want to contact SafeRide Driving Academy directly for more information about their courses and how to go about signing up for one.
What steps do I have to take in order to get a Texas drivers license in Brownsville Texas?
Most states require that teen-agers who are applying for their first driver's license complete both a safe driving classroom course and a driver training course.  SafeRide Driving Academy may be able to help you meet the driver training portion in Texas.  Please contact SafeRide Driving Academy for more information.

Is it necessary for me to take a behind-the-wheel training course in order to get my first Texas driver's license?
Yes, it is.  All teen-aged drivers applying for their first driver's license in Texas are required to take a state-approved behind-the-wheel training course.
Will Texas allow me to register for a driver training course before I actually get my learner's permit?
