Alief Driving SchoolFAQ's

Alief Driving School's address and phone number is listed on your webpage. How can I find out if it is an approved behind the wheel training school in Texas?
Even though we provide a list of driver training schools on our website, we have no way of knowing for sure as to whether or not a particular school is licensed by the Texas DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses.  We strongly suggest that you contact Alief Driving School directly or check with the Texas DMV to find out for sure if Alief Driving School is a licensed school.
Will the Texas DMV allow my parents to supervise my driving practice instead of requiring me to take a behind-the-wheel training course at a state-approved driving school?
Possibly.  Some states will allow your parents to supervise your driving practice in place of taking a behind-the-wheel driving course with a professional driving instructor.  You will need to contact the Texas DMV to find out if your behind-the-wheel driving may be done by your parents in Texas.
What happens if I don't know how to operate a stick-shift vehicle? Will Alief Driving School allow me to do my driver training with an automatic-shift vehicle?
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know much about driving any type of car--manual-shift or automatic-shift!  However, if you prefer to complete your driver training using an automatic-shift vehicle, you should contact Alief Driving School and inform them before you sign up to take their behind-the-wheel training course.  That way you will know for certain if they will accommodate you.
I live in a small rural town, where there are a lot of small, unpaved roads. Will my driver training with Alief Driving School include being taught how to drive in rural areas? Or do they just offer training for urban driving?
Most local driving schools will likely want their students to be taught how to drive safely in the local area.  Therefore, chances are good that the behind-the-wheel training you receive from Alief Driving School will include handling unpaved roads and mountain driving.
Now that I'm 14, will Texas allow me to get an instruction permit to drive?
Not likely.  Most states require residents to be at least 15 or 15 1/2 years old before applying for an instruction permit.  We recommend that your contact the Texas DMV office or a Texas-approved driver training institute such as Alief Driving School to learn more about the minimum driving age requirement in Texas.
Do I have to take a Houston Texas classroom or online drivers education course before I can register for a behind-the-wheel training course through Alief Driving School?
This requirement varies from state to state but most states do require pre-licensed drivers to take BOTH a classroom-based defensive driving course (generally 30 hours in length) AND a driver training course.  You should ask Alief Driving School if they offer one or both programs.
Texas's DMV has told me that I need to take a driver training course. Do you know if Alief Driving School offers this course or not?
Alief Driving School does offer the driver training course that Texas requires all new teen-aged drivers to take.  For more information about the courses Alief Driving School offers, we recommend that you contact Alief Driving School directly.
How do I obtain a drivers license in Houston Texas?
In most states, pre-licensed teens are required to complete both a classroom safe driving course and a behind-the-wheel training course.  Alief Driving School may be able to help you fulfill the behind-the-wheel training portion in Texas.
What are the laws in Texas concerning driver training courses? Do I have to take one to get my driver's license?
Yes, you do.  Texas law states that new drivers successfully complete an approved driver training course as a prerequisite to getting their first driver's license.
Can I enroll in a Texas-licensed driver training course even if I don't have my Texas instruction permit yet?
Most likely, no.  Most states have laws that mandate a pre-licensed driver to have obtained a Texas learners permit before registering in a Texas driver training course.  It would be best for you to contact a driving school such as Alief Driving School and ask for more information.
