Gigliotti's Driving SchoolFAQ's

Are all the driving schools listed on your website fully-licensed by the New York DMV to offer driver training courses in New York?
The driving school directory on our website is for your convenience only, and we cannot absolutely guarantee that every driving school listed is currently accredited to offer behind-the-wheel training courses in New York.  We suggest you contact the New York DMV to make sure a particular driving school is accredited before you register for their driver training course.
Will the New York DMV allow my parents to supervise my driving practice instead of requiring me to take a behind-the-wheel training course at a state-approved driving school?
Possibly.  Some states will allow your parents to supervise your driving practice in place of taking a driver training course with a professional driving instructor.  You will need to contact the New York DMV to find out if your driver training may be done by your parents in New York.
I have no clue how to drive a stick-shift vehicle. What happens if Gigliotti's Driving School makes me train on a stick-shift vehicle?
Considering the fact you are a brand new driver, you probably don't know much about operating ANY type of vehicle....stick OR automatic!  If you prefer to do your behind-the-wheel training with an automatic-shift vehicle, you may want to call Gigliotti's Driving School and let them know before you sign up to take their behind-the-wheel training course.  That way you'll know for certain whether Gigliotti's Driving School will be able to accommodate you before you pay them any money.
I live in a very remote area, where there are mountains and a lot of dirt roads. Do you know if Gigliotti's Driving School offers training for driving in rural areas like where I live instead of just driving on smooth, paved roads in urban areas?
Since you live in a rural area, a local driving school such as Gigliotti's Driving School will tailor your behind-the-wheel training to handle the conditions in your area.
Are 14-year-olds permitted to apply for a instruction permit in New York?
Although a few states allow teen-agers to begin practicing how to drive at 14, most states have set the minimum age for which to hold an instruction permit at either 15 or 15½.  You will need to contact the New York Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a certified driving school like Gigliotti's Driving School to find out what the minimum age for driving is in New York.
Do I have to take both a defensive driving classroom course and a driver training course in New Hartford New York to get my New York driver's license?
The laws vary depending on which state you live in, but most states do require that pre-licensed drivers register for a drivers education classroom course and a behind-the-wheel training course.  You may want to call a driving instruction company like Gigliotti's Driving School and find out if they offer either (or both) of these programs.
