Is ABC School of Driving a certified driving school in New York?
Just because a driving school appears on our directory of driver training institutions, we cannot guarantee that they are fully licensed to offer hands-on driving courses in New York.  We highly recommend that you contact ABC School of Driving directly or the New York DMV to find out for sure if ABC School of Driving offers hands-on driving courses that have been approved by the State of New York.
Somebody told me that I can skip out of attending a driver training school if my parents give me behind-the-wheel training instead. Is that permissible in New York?
Each state has its own laws regarding behind-the-wheel training.  Some states will allow parentally-supervised behind-the-wheel training as a substitute for attending a driver training course which is taught by a professional driving instructor.  However, not all states allow this.  You should contact the New York DMV to find out for sure.
Do you know if ABC School of Driving will let me take my driver training using an automatic-shift vehicle? I don't know anything about using a manual-shift.
Considering you're a brand new driver, you probably don't know a whole lot about driving ANY type of vehicle, be it a manual OR an automatic!  Nevertheless, if you have a preference, you probably should contact ABC School of Driving and see if they can accommodate you before signing up to take their behind-the-wheel training course.
Since I live way out in the country where driving on dirt roads and bumpy terrain is the norm, will ABC School of Driving be able to teach me how to drive in a rural environment? Or do they only prepare you for city-driving?
Since you live in a remote location, odds are that any local driving school in your area such as ABC School of Driving will want you to be able to drive safely on dirt roads and rugged terrain.  We recommend that you contact ABC School of Driving directly to find out exactly what they offer.
If I'm 14, can I get a driver's permit to drive in New York?
Possibly.  However, you should be aware that most states require you to be at least 15½ years old before you can get an instruction permit.  We recommend that you contact the New York Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a certified driving school such as ABC School of Driving to find out exactly what the minimum age requirement is in New York.
Do I have to complete a Rochester New York drivers education classroom course or online course before signing up to take one of ABC School of Driving's driver training courses?
Each state has its own laws, but most states will require first-time drivers to take both a driver training course plus either a defensive driving classroom course (which are about 30 hours in length) or an approved online drivers education course.  You may want to ask ABC School of Driving if they offer one or both programs.
