Drive NowFAQ's

Is Drive Now an approved driving school in Maryland?
Just because a driving school appears on our directory of driver training institutions, we cannot guarantee that they are fully licensed to offer behind-the-wheel training courses in Maryland.  We highly recommend that you contact Drive Now directly or the Maryland DMV to find out for sure if Drive Now offers behind-the-wheel training courses that have been approved by the State of Maryland.
Will the Maryland DMV allow my parents to supervise my driving practice instead of requiring me to take a behind-the-wheel training course at a state-approved driving school?
Possibly.  Some states will allow your parents to supervise your driving practice as a substitute to taking a driver training course with a professional driving instructor.  You will need to contact the Maryland DMV to find out if your behind-the-wheel driving may be done by your parents in Maryland.
I can't operate a stick-shift. Will Drive Now allow me to do my driver training on an automatic-shift vehicle?
We recommend that you contact Drive Now and ask them if you can do your driver training using a vehicle that has an automatic shift before signing up to take their driver training course.
I live in a very rural area, where there are mountains and a lot of unpaved roads. Do you know if Drive Now teaches students how to drive in rural areas like where I live instead of just driving on smooth, paved roads in urban areas?
Since you live in a rural area, a local driving school such as Drive Now will tailor your driver training to handle the conditions in your area.
I just turned 14 years old. Can I apply for my instruction permit in Maryland?
Probably not.  The minimum age requirement for holding a learners permit in most states is 15 1/2.  You should contact the Maryland Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driver training institute such as Drive Now to find out more information about the minimum age requirement in Maryland.
Can I take Drive Now's driver training course before taking a Baltimore Maryland defensive driving classroom course or online course?
It depends on what Maryland's laws prescribe.  However, you should know that most states will require teen-aged, first-time drivers to complete both a drivers education classroom course (which are approximately 30 hours in length, depending on Maryland's laws) or an approved online course, plus a state-approved behind-the-wheel training course.  We recommend that you contact Drive Now directly to see if they offer either (or both) of these courses.
I have to take a behind-the-wheel training course in Baltimore Maryland. Can I meet this requirement by registering with Drive Now?
Yes, Drive Now offers defensive driving courses in Baltimore Maryland.  You will need to contact Drive Now directly to get more information on the types of courses they offer and when to sign up for a class.
How do I obtain a drivers license in Baltimore Maryland?
In most states, pre-licensed teens are required to complete both a classroom safe driving course and a driver training course.  Drive Now may be able to help you meet the driver training portion in Maryland.
What are the laws in Maryland concerning driver training courses? Do I have to take one to get my driver's license?
Yes, you do.  Maryland law states that new drivers enroll in an approved behind-the-wheel training course as a prerequisite to getting their first driver's license.
Do I need to have my learner's permit before I sign up to take a behind-the-wheel training course like the one that Drive Now offers?
You will need to contact Drive Now or the Maryland DMV to find out if you are allowed to enroll in a driving school like Drive Now before receiving your Maryland instruction permit.
