A Plus Defensive DrivingFAQ's

Is A Plus Defensive Driving certified by the Texas DMV to offer driver training courses?
Although we include A Plus Defensive Driving in our directory of driving schools for Watauga Texas, we cannot make any assurances about whether or not A Plus Defensive Driving is licensed by the Texas DMV.  You should contact A Plus Defensive Driving directly and ask them if you are thinking about enrolling in their Watauga Texas behind-the-wheel training class.
Will the Texas DMV allow my parents to supervise my driving practice instead of requiring me to take a behind-the-wheel training course at a state-approved driving school?
Possibly.  Some states will allow your parents to supervise your driving practice in place of taking a driver training course with a professional driving instructor.  You will need to contact the Texas DMV to find out if your driver training may be done by your parents in Texas.
What if I don't know how to operate a vehicle with a manual-shift? Does A Plus Defensive Driving have an automatic-shift vehicle they'll let me train with?
Since you're just learning how to drive, you probably don't know how to operate either a manual-shift or an automatic-shift vehicle!  However, if you have a preference as to a manual or an automatic, you probably should call A Plus Defensive Driving to see if they can accommodate your request prior to your enrolling in their behind-the-wheel training course.
I live in a very rural area, where there are mountains and a lot of dirt roads. Do you know if A Plus Defensive Driving offers training for driving in rural areas like where I live instead of just driving on smooth, paved roads in urban areas?
Since you live in a remote area, a local driving school such as A Plus Defensive Driving will tailor your behind-the-wheel training to handle the conditions in your area.
After I turn 14, will I be eligible to obtain my learner's permit so I can begin to learn how to drive?
It depends on which state you live in, however most states unfortunately require you to be at least 15 (or sometimes 15 1/2) before you can be issued a instruction permit.  We suggest that you contact a local driver training school such as A Plus Defensive Driving or the Texas DMV office to learn more about the minimum age requirement for driving in Texas.
Will I be required to sign up for both a drivers education classroom or online course and a behind-the-wheel training course in Watauga Texas?
It depends on which state you live in, but many states now require new teen-aged drivers to successfully complete both a drivers education course as well as a driver training course.
I have to take a defensive driving course in Watauga Texas. Can I meet this requirement by signing up with A Plus Defensive Driving?
Yes, A Plus Defensive Driving offers drivers education courses in Watauga Texas.  You will need to contact A Plus Defensive Driving directly to get more information on the types of courses they offer and when to sign up for a class.
What type of driver ed do I need before Texas will give me a driver's license?
Each state has its own requirements concerning drivers education, although you should know that most states now mandate all new, young drivers to enroll in a drivers education classroom or online course as well as a driver training course.  A Plus Defensive Driving may be able to help you fulfill the driver training requirement in Texas.  Please contact either A Plus Defensive Driving or the Texas DMV for more information.
Is it necessary for me to enroll in a driver training course in order to get my first Texas driver's license?
Yes, it is.  All teen-aged drivers applying for their first driver's license in Texas are required to take a state-approved behind-the-wheel training course.
Can I sign up to take a Texas-approved behind-the-wheel training course even if I don't have my Texas instruction permit yet?
Most likely, no.  Most states have laws that mandate a pre-licensed driver to have obtained a Texas learners permit before registering in a Texas behind-the-wheel training course.  It would be best for you to contact a driving school such as A Plus Defensive Driving and ask for more information.
