DriversEd.comFAQ's

Can you tell me if DriversEd.com is a licensed driving school in Texas?
Although DriversEd.com is listed on our list of driving schools in your area, we are unable to say with certainty as to whether they are currently licensed to teach driver training courses in Texas.  We recommend either calling DriversEd.com directly or the Texas DMV to find out whether or not DriversEd.com offers driver training courses that are state-approved.
Somebody told me that I can skip out of attending a driver training school if my parents give me behind-the-wheel training instead. Is that permissible in Texas?
Each state has its own rules regarding behind-the-wheel training.  Some states will allow parentally-supervised behind-the-wheel training as a substitute for taking a behind-the-wheel training course which is taught by a professional driving instructor.  However, not all states allow this.  You should contact the Texas DMV to find out for sure.
What if I don't know how to drive a vehicle with a manual-shift? Does DriversEd.com have an automatic-shift vehicle they'll allow me train with?
Since you're just learning how to drive, you probably don't know how to operate either a manual-shift or an automatic-shift vehicle!  However, if you have a preference as to a manual or an automatic, you probably should call DriversEd.com to see if they can accommodate your request prior to your signing up to take their driver training course.
What happens to those of us who live in a rural area? Will DriversEd.com include instruction on how to drive on dirt roads, mountain roads, and other rugged?
If you live in a rural location, there is a high probability that a local driver training school like DriversEd.com will either want--or even be required--to tailor their instruction towards driving safely in your particular area.
Can I apply for my Texas instruction permit once I turn 14?
Most likely, no.  Most states have set the youngest age to obtain a learner's permit at 15 or 15½.  You may want to contact the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a licensed driving instruction school like DriversEd.com to learn more about the minimum age requirement in Texas.
Do I have to complete a Irving Texas drivers education classroom course or online course before enrolling in one of DriversEd.com's driver training courses?
Each state has its own rules, but most states will require first-time drivers to take both a behind-the-wheel training course plus either a drivers education classroom course (which are about 30 hours in length) or an approved online defensive driving course.  You may want to ask DriversEd.com if they offer one or both programs.
I am looking to sign up to take a Irving Texas drivers education course. Can DriversEd.com assist me with this?
Yes.  behind-the-wheel training courses are available in Irving Texas through DriversEd.com.  Please contact DriversEd.com directly with questions regarding their schedule of classes and registration information.
What steps do I have to take in order to get a Texas drivers license in Irving Texas?
Most states require that teen-agers who are applying for their first driver's license complete both a drivers education classroom course and a driver training course.  DriversEd.com may be able to help you meet the driver training portion in Texas.  Please contact DriversEd.com for more information.

Is a driver training course required in Irving Texas for me to get a drivers license?
The law in Texas requires that all drivers complete a driver training program as part of their driver education.  You should contact DriversEd.com directly to find out about the types of courses they offer.
Is it okay for me to enroll in a behind-the-wheel training class in Texas before I receive my Texas learners permit to drive?
Probably not.  Most states require first-time drivers to have their learners permit before they are allowed to register for a behind-the-wheel training program.  You should contact a driving instruction company like DriversEd.com and request more information.
