Safety-First Driving SchoolFAQ's

How do I know if Safety-First Driving School is licensed by Texas's DMV to offer driver training courses?
While we do include Safety-First Driving School's contact information in our driving school directory, we cannot say with certainty as to whether Safety-First Driving School is certified by the State of Texas.  We recommend that you either contact Safety-First Driving School directly or possibly the Texas DMV to find out if Safety-First Driving School is a licensed driver training school.
Do I have to take a behind-the-wheel training course? Can't my parents just give me my behind-the-wheel training?
There are some states that do permit parents or guardians to provide their teen-aged kids' required driver training in order to obtain a driver's license.  However many states do not allow any type of substitution for taking a professionally-taught behind-the-wheel training course.  We suggest you contact your state's DMV to find out what the laws are in your state regarding hands-on driving instruction.
What if I don't know how to drive a vehicle with a stick-shift? Does Safety-First Driving School have an automatic-shift vehicle they'll allow me train with?
Since you're just learning how to drive, you probably don't know how to operate either a stick-shift or an automatic-shift vehicle!  However, if you have a preference as to a manual or an automatic, you probably should call Safety-First Driving School to see if they can accommodate your request prior to your enrolling in their behind-the-wheel training course.
I live out in the middle of nowhere. There are rural and mountain roads all around. Will Safety-First Driving School train me how to drive in BOTH rural AND city areas?
If you live in a rural or mountain area, chances are that a local driving instruction institute like Safety-First Driving School will include behind-the-wheel driver training specifically tailored to that terrain.
I'm turning 14 in a few days. Can I get a instruction permit to drive in Texas after my 14th birthday?
Most likely, no.  Most states (though not all) have laws which require that you be at least 15 or 15 1/2 before to be eligible to apply for an instruction permit.  Nevertheless, you may wish to contact the Texas DMV office or a Texas-certified driving school such as Safety-First Driving School to find out for certain what the minimum driving age is in your local area.
Is taking a drivers education course in a classroom or online sufficient in Houston Texas or do I also have to successfully complete a driver training class with a professional driving instructor?
It depends on what the Texas's laws require, but many states do mandate that new, young drivers to enroll in a behind-the-wheel training class with a professional driving instructor as well as a drivers education classroom or online course.
Texas's DMV has told me that I need to take a behind-the-wheel training course. Do you know if Safety-First Driving School offers this course or not?
Safety-First Driving School does offer the behind-the-wheel training course that Texas requires all new teen-aged drivers to take.  For more information about the courses Safety-First Driving School offers, we recommend that you contact Safety-First Driving School directly.
What do I need to do to get a Texas drivers license in Houston Texas?
Most states require that teen-agers who are applying for their first driver's license complete both a drivers education classroom course and a driver training course.  Safety-First Driving School may be able to help you meet the behind-the-wheel training portion in Texas.  Please contact Safety-First Driving School for more information.

Is there a law in Texas that requires me to take driver training in order to get my driver's license?
Yes.  State law in Texas requires that all teen-agers enroll in an approved behind-the-wheel training course before receiving a Texas driver's license.
Is it okay for me to register for a driver training class in Texas before I receive my Texas learners permit to drive?
Probably not.  Most states require first-time drivers to have their instruction permit before they are allowed to sign up to take a driver training program.  You should contact a driving school like Safety-First Driving School and request more information.
