Island Driving SchoolFAQ's
Is Island Driving School a licensed driving school in Texas?
Just because a driving school appears on our directory of driver training institutions, we cannot guarantee that they are fully licensed to offer behind-the-wheel training courses in Texas. We highly recommend that you contact Island Driving School directly or the Texas DMV to find out for sure if Island Driving School offers driver training courses that have been approved by the State of Texas.
Will the Texas DMV allow my parents to supervise my driving practice instead of requiring me to take a behind-the-wheel training course at a state-approved driving school?
Possibly. Some states will allow your parents to supervise your driving practice as a substitute to taking a driver training course with a professional driving instructor. You will need to contact the Texas DMV to find out if your driver training may be done by your parents in Texas.
I can't drive a manual-shift. Will Island Driving School allow me to complete my driver training on an automatic-shift vehicle?
We recommend that you contact Island Driving School and ask them if you can do your behind-the-wheel training using a vehicle that has an automatic shift before registering for their behind-the-wheel training course.
The area in which I live is mostly undeveloped--very few paved roads and mountains are all around. Will Island Driving School be able to teach me how to drive safely on bumpy terrain as well as in a city or town?
Considering that you live in a rural area, chances are excellent that a local driving school like Island Driving School will want you to be able to drive safely on dirt roads and other types of rugged terrain. Now that I'm 14, will Texas allow me to get a learner's permit to drive?
