5-Star Driving SchoolFAQ's

How do I know if 5-Star Driving School is certified by Texas's DMV to offer behind-the-wheel training courses?
While we do include 5-Star Driving School's contact information in our driving school directory, we cannot say with certainty as to whether 5-Star Driving School is licensed by the State of Texas.  We recommend that you either contact 5-Star Driving School directly or possibly the Texas DMV to find out if 5-Star Driving School is a certified driver training school.
Do I have to take a behind-the-wheel training course? Can't my parents just give me my driver training?
There are some states that do allow parents or guardians to provide their teen-aged kids' required behind-the-wheel training in order to obtain a driver's license.  However many states do not allow any type of substitution for taking a professionally-taught behind-the-wheel training course.  We suggest you contact your state's DMV to find out what the laws are in your state regarding hands-on driving instruction.
What if I don't know how to operate a vehicle with a stick-shift? Does 5-Star Driving School have an automatic-shift vehicle they'll allow me train with?
Since you're just learning how to drive, you probably don't know how to operate either a stick-shift or an automatic-shift vehicle!  However, if you have a preference as to a stick or an automatic, you probably should call 5-Star Driving School to see if they can accommodate your request prior to your enrolling in their driver training course.
I live out in the middle of nowhere. There are rural and mountain roads all around. Will 5-Star Driving School teach me how to drive in BOTH rural AND city areas?
If you live in a rural or mountain area, chances are that a local driving school like 5-Star Driving School will include behind-the-wheel driver training specifically tailored to that terrain.
If I'm 14, can I get a driver's permit to drive in Texas?
Possibly.  However, you should be aware that most states require you to be at least 15½ years old before you can get a learner's permit.  We recommend that you contact the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a certified driving school such as 5-Star Driving School to find out exactly what the minimum age requirement is in Texas.
Am I required to take a El Paso Texas classroom or online drivers education course before I can enroll in a driver training course through 5-Star Driving School?
This requirement varies from state to state but most states do require pre-licensed drivers to take BOTH a classroom-based defensive driving course (generally 30 hours in length) AND a behind-the-wheel training course.  You should ask 5-Star Driving School if they offer one or both programs.
Texas's DMV has told me that I need to take a driver training course. Do you know if 5-Star Driving School offers this course or not?
5-Star Driving School does offer the behind-the-wheel training course that Texas requires all new teen-aged drivers to take.  For more information about the courses 5-Star Driving School offers, we recommend that you contact 5-Star Driving School directly.
What type of driver ed do I need before Texas will give me a driver's license?
Each state has its own requirements concerning drivers education, although you should know that most states now require all new, young drivers to enroll in a drivers education classroom or online course as well as a behind-the-wheel training course.  5-Star Driving School may be able to help you meet the driver training requirement in Texas.  Please contact either 5-Star Driving School or the Texas DMV for more information.
Is hands-on driver training required in Texas in order to be licensed to operate a motor vehicle?
Absolutely.  All new drivers in Texas must register for an approved driver training course before they can be issued a license to independently operate a motor vehicle.
Is it possible to enroll in a Texas-approved driver training course before I obtain my Texas learners permit?
It depends on what the specific laws are in Texas, however most states require first-time drivers to receive an learners permit before registering for a driver training course.  We recommend you contact a driving school such as 5-Star Driving School to obtain more information.
