Virtual DriveFAQ's
Is Virtual Drive an approved driving school in Texas?
Just because a driving school appears on our directory of driver training institutions, we cannot guarantee that they are fully licensed to offer hands-on driving courses in Texas. We highly recommend that you contact Virtual Drive directly or the Texas DMV to find out for sure if Virtual Drive offers behind-the-wheel training courses that have been approved by the State of Texas.
Could I just have my mother or father give me my behind-the-wheel training instead of paying money to enroll in a professional driver training course?
It depends on which state you live in. There are some states which permit you to do your behind-the-wheel training with a parent or guardian instead of attending a professional driving school. However many states require that first-time drivers take a professionally-taught driver training course. We recommend that you ask your state's DMV office to find out if your parent or guardian can fill the role as your behind-the-wheel driving instructor.
I have no clue how to drive a stick-shift vehicle. What happens if Virtual Drive makes me train on a stick-shift vehicle?
Considering the fact you are a brand new driver, you probably don't know much about operating ANY type of vehicle....stick OR automatic! If you prefer to do your behind-the-wheel training with an automatic-shift vehicle, you may want to call Virtual Drive and let them know before you sign up to take their behind-the-wheel training course. That way you'll know for sure whether Virtual Drive can accommodate you before you pay them any money.
What happens to those of us who live in a non-urban area? Will Virtual Drive include instruction on how to drive on dirt roads, mountain roads, and other rugged?
If you live in a remote location, there is a high probability that a local driver training school like Virtual Drive will either want--or even be required--to tailor their instruction towards driving safely in your particular locale.
Can 14-year-olds obtain instruction permits to drive in Texas?
Most states have set the minimum age for applying for an instruction permit at 15 or 15 1/2. However, some states do allow 14-year-olds to obtain an instruction permit. You may want to contact the Texas DMV or a Texas-approved driver training school like Virtual Drive to find out what the minimum age to drive is in Texas.
Do I have to complete a Amarillo Texas drivers education classroom course or online course before enrolling in one of Virtual Drive's behind-the-wheel training courses?
Each state has its own rules, but most states will require first-time drivers to take both a behind-the-wheel training course plus either a defensive driving classroom course (which are about 30 hours in length) or an approved online defensive driving course. You may want to ask Virtual Drive if they offer one or both programs.
Texas's DMV has told me that I need to take a behind-the-wheel training course. Do you know if Virtual Drive offers this course or not?
Virtual Drive does offer the driver training course that Texas requires all new teen-aged drivers to take. For more information about the courses Virtual Drive offers, we recommend that you contact Virtual Drive directly.
Do I have to take drivers education to get a Texas driver's license?
Drivers education requirements vary depending on which state you live in, but you should be aware that most states require new, teen-aged drivers to enroll in both a behind-the-wheel training course in addition to a drivers education classroom or online course. You may wish to contact the Texas DMV to find out exactly what requirements you will need to fulfill in order to obtain your first driver's license.
