Arizona Driver License Requirements at-a-glance:

*To be eligible for your Arizona instruction permit you must be at least 15½-years-old.

  • To be eligible for your graduated driver’s license you must be at least 16-years-old.
  • With your permit, you must log 30 hours of supervised driving with 10 hours being at night.
  • To apply for your graduated license you must be 16-years-old and have held your learner’s permit for at least 6 months.
  • The 30 hour online course could replace your 30 hours of behind-the-wheel training.
  • With your graduated license, you can’t drive with more than one passenger under 18 unless they are immediate family.
  • For the first six months with your graduated license, you cannot drive unsupervised between midnight and 5am.
  • At 18, you can apply for a Class D operator’s license

Step 1: Take an online Arizona drivers education course with DriverEdToGo.com.
Step 2: Now it’s time to take the course and work toward getting your Certificate of Completion.
Step 3: You’ve got all the knowledge you need. So with that certificate, you can now go to an MVD office to take their official written exam.
Step 4: If you make it through the written exam, the Arizona MVD is going to issue you an instruction permit. With this permit you can start behind-the-wheel training with a license driver over the age of 21.
Step 5: Drive as often as you can as you log your necessary hours.
Step 6: You’re sixteen and ready for the MVD driving exam. Receiving your graduated driver’s license after successfully passing!
