Pennsylvania Driver License Requirements at-a-glance:

Minimum Age for Learner Permit 16 years
Learner Permit Holding Period 6 months
Minimum Age for Driver License 16 years, 6 months for a junior driver's license
Road Test Yes
Minimum Amount of Supervised Driving 50 hours with a qualified supervising driver (i.e.—a licensed driver who’s at least 21 years old or 18 years old if the supervisor is your spouse).
Unsupervised Driving Rules Junior driver’s license holders may not drive between 11pm and 5am unless a licensed adult driver who’s at least 18 years old is seated in the front passenger seat. Exceptions include commuting to or from work or a volunteer/charitable service.
Passenger Rules Licensed minors may carry passengers, however every passenger in the vehicle must wear their own seat belt.

Pennsylvania Driver Education $45.00

This approved 30-hour online driver education theory class is brought to you by Rogers School of Driving Inc. This course is not a requirement to obtain your driver's license or take your driving test. Once you have completed a 30 hour class and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction you may be eligible for an insurance discount and a senior (regular) license at the age of 17 1/2. Once you have completed this 30-hour course, you will be issued a certificate of completion. Once you have completed 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction with an approved driving school, you will be issued a separate certificate of completion for the behind-the-wheel phase. You must have both of these certificates in order to qualify for the insurance discount and senior license benefits.
